We’re all Cannibals

maxresdefault

Hey guys! We’ve made it to the end of the week, and I don’t know about you guys, but I’m tired. This week was extremely busy and definitely not what I bargained for. But all the negatives aside, it’s fitness Friday, where we’re doing things to better our bodies. Today, we’re talking about water.

So I officially start training with my mom on Monday (she’s running a race and I said I would do it with her, yes, I know I’m really stupid)and I’m taking the weekend, not only to recharge from the crazy busy week I’ve had, but also to start hydrating.

Now I know that some of you might think that drinking water is stupid, sometimes I really don’t want to drink water either. (Normally those times are when there is coke somewhere in my house that I feel I must confiscate). But water is actually really really good for our bodies. It could have something to do with the fact that we’re actually about 70% water (which is really crazy if you think about it). So I know that you guys don’t want to do all the research to find out why drinking water is really important, which is why I was nice enough to click on and read the first five hits on a Google search I did on drinking water when you’re working out. Here’s what I found (don’t say I never gave you anything)…

When you work out, your body is more prone to dehydration because you’re doing this really weird thing called sweating. When you work out, you get hot. When you get hot, your body tries to cool down (first it yells at you to stop working out, but you’re stupid and don’t listen). When it attempts to cool down, you sweat and it drains your body of water. Now we just established that water is more than half of what we are made of, so when your body is expelling water because you’re torturing it, it’s not really happy. So what can we do to fix that water deficiency? How about drink more water !

No, seriously, before you work out, like, the second you decide “hey, I’m going to work out today,” you should drink about 3 cups of water. The internet said between 15 and 20 ounces, but I’m a rebel.

Just before you begin your workout, like 15 minutes before, drink another cup of water. Partially because water’s still really good for you, and partially because about 30% of the water you drank early that morning, you’ve peed out. It’s gross, but we all do it.

During your workout, it is said that you’re supposed to drink a cup of water ever 15 minutes, but if you told my mother that she need to stop running to drink every 15 minutes, she’d give you “the look” and you’d probably start running in the opposite direction. (My mom is mean guys, don’t let her fool you). My suggestion is to get one of those cute water bottles from Walmart and carry it with you. Sip as you go.

Now, after you work out, (drop the oxygen machine) you’re going to start guzzling water like you’ve been living in the desert for five years anyways. As often as I do the exact same thing, I’m going to give you a piece of advice, sip, don’t guzzle. Cramps are not your friend. Seriously, about 10 minutes after you finish that 37th bottle of water, your body is going to hate you and you’ll either get cramps (which suck) or throw up (which sucks more, and you’re all gross). So it is in your best interest to sip.

One more piece of advice for you guys, start drinking water a few days before you start a new exercise program. It will reduce the soreness you’re going to have the next day because it will reduce the water deficit that your muscles are going to have. Basically, think of it this way, when you have to pee every hour, and it’s clear, you’re doing it right.

Warning: while it is extremely rare, there is a condition called hyponatremia which comes from people drinking too much water. Granted, for this to happen, a person would have to have gallons of water at a time, but be careful guys. If any of you slip into a coma, or die, because of this post, I will be very disappointed in you (and you’re going to make me feel really bad) So everything in moderation, okay.

I hope you’ve learned something today, (I learned a new word) and if you  guys are going to start working out, or even if you already do, leave me a comment or a message telling me what you’re going to do. I love hearing from you all. If there’s nothing else going on in my head, I’m going to bid you all farewell. I love you guys, see you Monday!

The First of Many

Hey Every bunny, I’m back.

First off, I want to say thank you to everyone that’s new to my blog, I’ve gotten quite a few followers since I’ve last posted and to all of you guys, this is me saying “hey, thanks for joining me on this crazy, gorgeous adventure”. With that being said, I’m really sorry to all of you guys. I know, I haven’t posted in over a month and one of the last things I said was that I was going to try and post every day. , All excuses aside (I will be giving all of my excuses in the coming weeks, so stay tuned), I’m back. I’m energized, and most of all, inspired to start writing again.

So here’s the plan, if you guys are on YouTube and watch CarlieStylez, you are well aware that I stole her idea (Well, more of her concept than her idea, but whatever makes you clever). Instead of challenging myself to post absolutely every day, (which we are now convinced that I am not able to do at this point), to go along with some personal changes that I am making and structuring in my own life, I am now adding structure to my blog.

I am going to attempt to write a blog post five days a week, and if I miss a day or so, there’s no stress. The schedule I am going to try and keep up with for now will be as follows:

Motivational Monday- just a little something to inspire and motivate everyone while starting their week. This could be anything from a quote, to me sharing a story that made me smile, or even random pictures of my dog, because he’s adorable. Basically, this is my virtual coffee to all of you guys; a little pick-me-up to make Mondays a little brighter

Too-Tiring Tuesdays- we’re all going to have fun on Tuesdays, because after Monday, we deserve it. Tuesdays will probably become my rant days because I’m a really silly, weird person and my opinions are hysterical (to me, at least). If you guys have any ideas for Tuesdays, leave them in the comments and I’ll try to make you all happy.

Whatever Wednesdays- as the title says, Wednesdays will be about…whatever I feel like writing about. These are the days that I will probably be sharing more about my life, or more serious topics. My opinions on life, love…other “l” words? Whatever, I’m not creative. These might also be my book and music reviews (hint, hint) so be prepared for my theories and wonders.

Tip Thursdays- Because my opinion could not be more shoved in your faces, I’m giving you tips on more randomness. The holidays are coming up, so there will probably be Christmas-themed blogs for a little bit. I might throw some recipes in there. Some nail stuff, some organization stuff. You know, random girly stuff, because I’m a girl…duh.

Fitness Fridays- That’s right, we’re working out again. Fridays are meant to make you feel good, and quoting Legally Blonde, “Exercising gives you endorphins; endorphins make you happy, happy people just don’t kill their husbands!” Luckily, my non-existent husband is safe (I’m only 18, remember), because we’re working on our fitness. Fridays could be about anything from workout plans, how to do different things with different parts of your body, water and nutrition advice, vitamins….whatever! I’ll fill you in on where I am on my fitness journey and we’re just going to have a good time.

I hope you guys enjoy the themed days. If you have any suggestions on anything, feel free to let me know. I read all of your messages and take everything you guys say into consideration. With all of that being said, we’re going to jump right in because there’s no time like the present. Motivational Mondays, everyone.

Now, the quote that I chose for today is actually at the top of your screen, it says, “If plan “A” didn’t work, the alphabet has 25 more letters. Stay Cool!” I love this quote. I feel like it can really apply to everyone. It applies in all different aspects of life. It applies to me event is the construction of this blog. I had a plan last month, it didn’t work out, so now plan “B” is in the works. Plans fail, they shift and they change, if we can’t adapt to them, we’re going to be stuck, and that’s not fun. Basically, this quote is saying “Keep calm and eat a cupcake!” Cupcakes make everyone happy, and when you’re enjoying a cupcake, you’re not thinking about any of your worries. So be cupcakes, guys!

Thank all of you again for bearing with me as I get my life together. I have actually set out specific blogging time in my schedule for the week, so we’ll see how everything goes. As always, like, comment, subscribe and share this post. I love you all, and…I’ll see you tomorrow!

Training Dirty and Eating Clean

setting_personal_goals

While it is arguable to whether or not I am putting off homework or not to make this post, I haven’t blogged in a few days (sorry guys) and I’ve missed it. This weekend was the anniversary of a few things that I’d tried to forget by busying myself with the people that I love (it didn’t work that well) and I forgot that I had made a website. All that aside, today begins the month of October and I figured, why wait until the New Year to start setting some resolutions. With that being said, I am making public my goals for the month of October and will go into detail for each of them in turn. Once you’ve read this post, your job is to keep me accountable for the things that I’ve said (written, typed, whatever). So, are you ready?

Start Exercising

I’m going to start out with my toughest goal first. Although I’m not going to say that because I am a teenage girl, I am self-conscious about my body and my weight, as a teenage girl, I am self-conscious about my body and my weight (See, I didn’t say because). But seriously, I figure that it is time to start taking better care of my body. I’ve always had a belly, and it’s always bothered me. While I am not making a specific “weight loss goal” I do want to become healthier starting this month, and the way that I am going to do that is through exercising (and some other goals that I’ll mention later). Because I know that the best way to stick with an exercise regimen is to do it with other people; however, I’m going to blog about it instead, keeping you guys in my loop. I’ve found some pretty intense month-long workout plans that I’m going to try out, and hopefully not quit on. Eventually, I want to be able to do more than three push-ups without passing out (figuratively, of course.)

No Excess Sugar

This goal, by no means, means cutting out fruits or things of that nature. The sugar I’m talking about comes from things like soda, candy, desserts and other things like that. While I said that exercising was my toughest goal, my family’s birthdays (aside from my dad’s) start this month, and life without ice cream is going to be a pain in the butt. I really am determined to do this, though. Okay, so while I might add in a cheat day once a week (as to not go insane) eventually, I will make it to a full month without sugar. We’ve all got to start somewhere, right?

Drink 8 cups of water every day

While this may seem easy, eight cups of anything every day is probably tough to do (I’m going to have to pee, a lot). This goal will, however, help with my sugar goal, as instead of drinking soda or sweet tea, I’m going to try to have a glass of water instead. This will also help my exercise goal because keeping muscles hydrated is always a good thing. Drinking water helps with weight loss goals as well, because a lot of times, people (myself included) feel the need to eat something, when in reality, they’re just thirsty. I’m going to try it. While I’m probably going to still have my morning cup of coffee (for the sake of everyone around me) water will be my main go-to drink. I’m going to include Perrier into my definition of water, I like bubblies.

Sleep at least 6 hours each night

This may be more of a dream (pun intended) than an actual goal, but seriously, I need more sleep. When I’m sleepy, I’m not the most pleasant person to be around (and with no sugar, I’m going to be downright cranky) and sleep is really important. Granted, with school and work and friends (friend time is a necessity, thank you very much) while eight hours of sleep is ideal, it’s not very practical. I do think that I should be able to get at least six hours, though. Again, I will keep everyone updated as I go along. Pray that I don’t start procrastinating in school this month (not unlike I’m doing right now)…

Read One New Book per Week

As much as I love to read, (I love to read) I’ve been too busy to pick up anything new recently. This goal, I hope, will change that. I’m not counting books as things I have to read for school or work (yes, sometimes I have to read for work) I mean, a book that I find peaks my interest, or something someone recommends for me. I miss reading for me; I’m going to start doing that again (amazon gift cards are accepted in the form of donations, just saying). If all else fails, we did just get a new library in near my house…

Blog Every Day

I’m going to try to do this. If I don’t get a new post up every day, I will have 31 posts in the month of October. If that means writing 2 or 3 or 4 posts in a day, so be it. Accountability is the name of the game. If you guys feel the need to yell at me to post a blog, feel free. If there are any ideas of blog posts that you guys have for me, send them my way. It’ll help.

Alright guys, this month is going to be intense, but do-able. The worst that can happen is that I will be humiliated in front of the entire internet. I promise that I will be honest with you guys, though. If I screw up, trust me, you’ll know. Ready for this? Me either, but it’s either now or never!
