Training Dirty and Eating Clean

setting_personal_goals

While it is arguable to whether or not I am putting off homework or not to make this post, I haven’t blogged in a few days (sorry guys) and I’ve missed it. This weekend was the anniversary of a few things that I’d tried to forget by busying myself with the people that I love (it didn’t work that well) and I forgot that I had made a website. All that aside, today begins the month of October and I figured, why wait until the New Year to start setting some resolutions. With that being said, I am making public my goals for the month of October and will go into detail for each of them in turn. Once you’ve read this post, your job is to keep me accountable for the things that I’ve said (written, typed, whatever). So, are you ready?

Start Exercising

I’m going to start out with my toughest goal first. Although I’m not going to say that because I am a teenage girl, I am self-conscious about my body and my weight, as a teenage girl, I am self-conscious about my body and my weight (See, I didn’t say because). But seriously, I figure that it is time to start taking better care of my body. I’ve always had a belly, and it’s always bothered me. While I am not making a specific “weight loss goal” I do want to become healthier starting this month, and the way that I am going to do that is through exercising (and some other goals that I’ll mention later). Because I know that the best way to stick with an exercise regimen is to do it with other people; however, I’m going to blog about it instead, keeping you guys in my loop. I’ve found some pretty intense month-long workout plans that I’m going to try out, and hopefully not quit on. Eventually, I want to be able to do more than three push-ups without passing out (figuratively, of course.)

No Excess Sugar

This goal, by no means, means cutting out fruits or things of that nature. The sugar I’m talking about comes from things like soda, candy, desserts and other things like that. While I said that exercising was my toughest goal, my family’s birthdays (aside from my dad’s) start this month, and life without ice cream is going to be a pain in the butt. I really am determined to do this, though. Okay, so while I might add in a cheat day once a week (as to not go insane) eventually, I will make it to a full month without sugar. We’ve all got to start somewhere, right?

Drink 8 cups of water every day

While this may seem easy, eight cups of anything every day is probably tough to do (I’m going to have to pee, a lot). This goal will, however, help with my sugar goal, as instead of drinking soda or sweet tea, I’m going to try to have a glass of water instead. This will also help my exercise goal because keeping muscles hydrated is always a good thing. Drinking water helps with weight loss goals as well, because a lot of times, people (myself included) feel the need to eat something, when in reality, they’re just thirsty. I’m going to try it. While I’m probably going to still have my morning cup of coffee (for the sake of everyone around me) water will be my main go-to drink. I’m going to include Perrier into my definition of water, I like bubblies.

Sleep at least 6 hours each night

This may be more of a dream (pun intended) than an actual goal, but seriously, I need more sleep. When I’m sleepy, I’m not the most pleasant person to be around (and with no sugar, I’m going to be downright cranky) and sleep is really important. Granted, with school and work and friends (friend time is a necessity, thank you very much) while eight hours of sleep is ideal, it’s not very practical. I do think that I should be able to get at least six hours, though. Again, I will keep everyone updated as I go along. Pray that I don’t start procrastinating in school this month (not unlike I’m doing right now)…

Read One New Book per Week

As much as I love to read, (I love to read) I’ve been too busy to pick up anything new recently. This goal, I hope, will change that. I’m not counting books as things I have to read for school or work (yes, sometimes I have to read for work) I mean, a book that I find peaks my interest, or something someone recommends for me. I miss reading for me; I’m going to start doing that again (amazon gift cards are accepted in the form of donations, just saying). If all else fails, we did just get a new library in near my house…

Blog Every Day

I’m going to try to do this. If I don’t get a new post up every day, I will have 31 posts in the month of October. If that means writing 2 or 3 or 4 posts in a day, so be it. Accountability is the name of the game. If you guys feel the need to yell at me to post a blog, feel free. If there are any ideas of blog posts that you guys have for me, send them my way. It’ll help.

Alright guys, this month is going to be intense, but do-able. The worst that can happen is that I will be humiliated in front of the entire internet. I promise that I will be honest with you guys, though. If I screw up, trust me, you’ll know. Ready for this? Me either, but it’s either now or never!
